VAXDOCKAN

The odd night watchman Lundgren lives alone in an old building filled with strange tenants. He falls in love with a mannequin in the shop where he works, and manages to steal it and bring it home. Lundgren begins to buy clothes and presents, believing that the doll is alive and talking to him. The neighbors become suspicious and react strongly to his sick inclinations.

A horror drama directed by the masterful Arne Mattsson and with a screenplay by Lars Forssell, a member of the Swedish Academy.

Per Oscarsson was a maverick talent in Swedish cinema, appearing in everything from comedies, children's films and award-winning dramas, to quirky cult films such as Victor Frankenstein (1977) and The Night Visitor (1971). He also directed the very original Ebon Lundin (1973).

Gio Petré had roles in arthouse blockbusters like Ingmar Bergman's Wild Strawberries (1957) and Mai Zetterling's Loving Couples (1964). She later became an international icon and symbol of “Swedish Sin” as the star of sexploitation films like I, A Woman Part II (1968), As the Naked Wind from the Sea (1968), and Ann and Eve (1970).

Presented in a new 4K restoration by the Swedish Film Institute from the original 35mm negative and 35mm sound negative.

EBON LUNDIN

Per Oscarsson's directorial debut about a lonely man who quits his factory job to truly "live life" for the first time. It becomes a tragicomic, absurdist odyssey through Stockholm's underbelly as Ebon encounters demonstrations, bars, churches, and society's outcasts while searching for genuine human connection.

Oscarsson creates a Christ-like figure whose attempts at compassion — helping drunks, defending the vulnerable, seeking love — are consistently misunderstood by an indifferent urban landscape.

This deeply personal project reflects Oscarsson's reputation as Sweden's rebellious individualist, examining themes of loneliness, social disconnection, and the price of maintaining human dignity in an increasingly dehumanized world.

A unique entry in 1970s Swedish cinema that transforms one man's personal crisis into a broader meditation on modern urban existence and the difficulty of maintaining authentic human values in contemporary society.

Presented in a new 4K restoration by the Swedish Film Institute from the original 16mm negative, 16mm print and 16mm magnetic tape.
